Today was the last day of school for the boys! When they go back in September it will be the boys AND Hannah!
I can't believe another year is over. It was a strange year, I'm sure because of the arrival of Harper half way through the school year! It seems like it flew by and yet it seems like it took forever! I'm sure summer will be the same way!
The boys had an awards assembly today. Hayden received the Thomas Studious Award for "staying on track with great behavior and attention to your work". Harrison received 4 awards! The Young Artist award from the art teacher, a Keyboarding Certificate from the computer teacher ( 15 wpm with 95% accuracy), the Most Creative Award and the Starburst Award because he "Is always orbiting the classroom and loves astronomy" from his teacher Mrs. Warner. Both boys brought home their report cards and I'm proud to say they were both excellent!
All in all, I'm glad the school year is over (Whoo Hoo, no homework!) but also sad that my kids are growing up so fast! Harrison will be in 4th grade next year!!!! How did that happen? Come to think of it, Hannah is starting Kindergarten and Hallie will be starting preschool! Where did the time go??? In all seriousness, we were very lucky to have such great teachers for the boys this year. Mrs. Beatty is just awesome, I intend to send every one of my kids to her for 1st grade! Mrs. Warner has just been unbelieveably helpful in working out some "bugs "with Harrison!
The kids have started base/softball! Hannah had her first game on Monday night. She got a hit and made it to 1st base! Unfortunately, she was last in the line up so that's as far as she got! The boys are also doing well, Hayden got to play 1st base last night and Harrison got a hit, made it all the way around the bases to score and he got to play catcher for an inning! It's going to be a LONG month!
Harper is finally rolling over!!! It seems like it took her forever! She still doesn't have any teeth-the other 4 all had one by now! She is also VERY close to sitting up on her own! She tends to lean too far forward. This is especially true in her bathtub where she has taken to splashing like a fiend!
In other news, Jeff smashed his finger yesterday at work. He thought for sure that it was broken but the x-ray said otherwise! The doctor called it a crush injury (he smashed his finger while pounding rail). Not a broken finger but still a significant injury. That was fun. He's in some pain (go figure) but he still went to work today! Tomorrow he goes to see an occupational therapist, I'm not sure what for...I guess to make sure it heals properly!
This weekend we head off to Mackinac Island with the entire Schafer (Thelen/James) clan! Should be fun! The kids are VERY excited as are we, it's just more work for us!
Better go, this is long enough!
Until next time-
